A few months ago, I had to make the decision between the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
The HTC Vive’s VR goggles were a little less powerful than the Oculus Rift, but the Vive’s screen and controller made it feel like I was on a big, colorful, sci-fi-themed spaceship.
And while Oculus Rift and HTC Vive offered a similar amount of headroom and an expansive virtual world, they didn’t offer as much immersive entertainment.
It’s been about two years since the Vive and Rift launched, and there are plenty of good VR headsets out there right now, and they all look like the kind of thing you’d want to wear when you’re out on a mission.
But it took me quite a while to get used to using both VR headsets, which can be frustrating.
Now that I’m finally able to use the Oculus VR headset for the first time, I’ve made a decision I’m pretty happy with.
I like my Vive, and it has its pros and cons.
But I also think I’ve gotten better with using Oculus Rift than I did with the HTC.
I can see myself wearing a Vive headset for at least a year, maybe two, if not three, if I’m lucky.
And even if I don’t, the Oculus is a fantastic piece of hardware.
It looks great, and feels great in VR.
If you’re looking for an affordable, fun way to play a lot of VR games, the HTC is a good option.
However, for those of us who have already purchased a VR headset, I’d still recommend trying the Oculus if you want to get into the game.
If not, I’ll go with the Vive.
